The individual in question is Emilio Oñate, an attorney and Doctor of Law, who served as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Commission for the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act.

Emilio is a lawyer and holds a Ph.D. in Law, specializing in administrative law, public policy, and the regulation of strategic sectors. His career includes participation in the Ministerial Advisory Commission for the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law, where he contributed to the analysis and development of the regulatory framework in this area.

Emilio Oñate also holds a Doctor of Law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid; a Master’s degree in Management and Public Policy from Adolfo Ibáñez University; and a Master’s degree in Administrative Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. In addition, he has a postgraduate certificate in Contemporary Law and Politics from the University of Lleida, Spain.
Between 2002 and 2006, he served as Regional Ministerial Secretary of Transportation and Telecommunications for the Valparaíso Region, and then, from 2006 to 2009, as Executive Secretary of the Chilean Government’s National Traffic Safety Commission (Conaset).
Finally, from 2016 to 2023, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law and Humanities at Universidad Central, and currently serves as Academic Vice Rector at the same institution.
With his addition, az continues to build a team specializing in data protection and technology regulation, anticipating the challenges that will arise from the new Personal Data Law, which will take effect in December of this year.
