PDAC 2023 | Opportunities and development of the lithium industry in Chile

Mar 13, 2023

The attendees held meetings with businessmen from the sector and highlighted the interest in Chilean mining.

The World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention was a great success and was attended by our director of the Energy and Natural Resources group, Alejandro Montt.

The event took place from March 5 to 8 in Toronto, Canada, where experts, businessmen and investors shared experiences and discussed opportunities in the mining industry.

During the event, Alejandro referred to the prospects for investors in Chile, stating that currently “the country risk and the recently announced levels of fiscal responsibility are valued, but that they are taking place in a context of increased country risk in our neighbors“.

Subsequently, he added that, there is a lot of expectation for what will be the new constitutional discussion and regarding what may happen with lithium.

On this last point, the private sector expects that there will be an opening for its participation together with the state and an early announcement of a new National Lithium Company, as well as possibilities of working together with ENAMI and Codelco in the different salt flats where these companies have a presence“, he concluded.
