Emilio Oñate is part of our firm’s az Tech team.
Emilio Oñate advises on matters of administrative law, regulation, and personal data protection. He has an outstanding academic background and experience in the public sector, participating in the design and analysis of public policies and regulatory frameworks related to technology, data, and administrative activity of the State. He was also a member of the Ministerial Advisory Commission for the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law.
Practice Areas
He has an outstanding academic and professional background in public and regulatory law. He holds a law degree from the Central University of Chile and a PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Management and Public Policy from the Adolfo Ibáñez University and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, along with a postgraduate degree in Law and Contemporary Politics from the University of Lleida, Spain.
Throughout his career, he has gained experience in the public sector, regulatory consulting, and public policy design, serving, among other positions, as Regional Ministerial Secretary of Transportation and Telecommunications for the Valparaíso Region and as Executive Secretary of the National Traffic Safety Commission (CONASET).
In the academic field, he has extensive experience in teaching and university management. He was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Humanities at the Central University for two terms and currently serves as Academic Vice-Rector of the same institution.
