Jul 28, 2025

The document includes updated information on 18 jurisdictions in Latin America, Spain, and the United States.

During a webinar organized by Compliance Latam, a network of which Albagli Zaliasnik (az) is a member along with 11 other firms in the region, experts presented the Comparative Guide on Internal Investigations.

It is a practical and strategic resource for companies seeking to strengthen their mechanisms for preventing, detecting, and responding to potential misconduct.

It is important to mention that this resource maps challenges, lessons learned, and best practices in 18 jurisdictions in Latin America, the United States, and Spain, where the member firms of the Compliance Latam platform are present.

Similarly, the guide offers a regional and up-to-date overview of the regulatory framework and general principles governing internal investigations in each country, allowing for a useful comparison for organizations with global operations.

During the launch webinar, experts addressed internal investigation processes, covering their initiation, scope, evidence collection, management of reporting channels, confidentiality, and conflicts of interest, as well as their effectiveness in companies.

In this regard, our partner Jorge Arredondo emphasizes that it is essential to internalize “the scope of internal investigation processes within companies, as well as the importance of proper compliance.”

This tool reinforces Compliance Latam’s commitment to promoting best business practices and a culture of compliance, offering a concrete resource for navigating the complex scenarios of internal investigations with greater clarity.

“The guide is a relevant resource considering the context of the Karin Law in our country, especially for those organizations that are working on their compliance and crime prevention models,” concluded Arredondo.

The webinar is available here. In addition, the guide can now be downloaded here.

Finally, it is important to mention that the guide was prepared by the following firms: Albagli Zaliasnik (Chile), Bartolome & Briones (Spain), Basham, Ringe y Correa (Mexico), Beccar Varela (Argentina), BLP (Central America), Bustamante Fabara (Ecuador), CPB (Peru), FCR Law (Brazil), Ferrere (Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia), MDU Legal (Panama), Miller & Chevalier (United States), and Posse Herrera Ruiz (Colombia).
