Our Corporate and Business Group participated in the IBA regional conference on mergers and acquisitions.
The 2026 regional meeting, titled “Mergers and Acquisitions in Latin America — Building Bridges Through Business: Rethinking M&A in the Americas,” organized by the International Bar Association (IBA), took place from Monday, March 23, to Wednesday, March 25.
The event, which featured the participation of our Corporate and Business Group, was held at the Enjoy Punta del Este Resort and Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
Representing az were our partner Álvaro Rosenblut, Legal & Business Director Stephanie Cruz, senior associate Macarena Waidele, and Marketing and Communications Director Karla Durán.
The conference, which featured various activities and panel discussions, brought together leading lawyers and experts to explore the trends, challenges, and opportunities that are reshaping the M&A market in the region.
Some of the topics addressed included:
- Cross-border M&A in Latin America: key legal and regulatory challenges.
- M&A in a complex regional environment: risks, opportunities, and macroeconomic factors.
- Free competition and regulation: impact on transactions and approval processes.
- Post-acquisition integration and dispute resolution: keys to capturing value.
- Technology, AI, and the digital economy: their effect on transactions, due diligence, and structures.
- Foreign investment (especially from China): the role of social impact in corporate transactions.
In addition, as part of the IBA Punta del Este conference, the team met with prestigious firms from various countries, providing opportunities to exchange experiences and plan new lines of work.
The team also attended a side event organized by Compliance Latam in collaboration with the Uruguayan firm Ferrere, which brought together other partners and members of the regional platform.
