The appointment of attorney Juan Pablo González addresses the growing challenges companies face as the new Personal Data Law takes effect.
In line with its strategy of providing high-value legal counsel on matters of innovation, technology regulation, and digital transformation, az announced the appointment of lawyer Juan Pablo González as director of New Technologies and AI.
His arrival addresses the growing challenge organizations face in adapting to an increasingly complex regulatory environment, marked by the Personal Data Law taking effect on December 1 of this year, the implementation of the Cybersecurity Framework Law, and the advancement of new governance standards for artificial intelligence.

Companies need advisors who understand both regulation and technology,” said Juan Pablo González.
The establishment of this practice responds to a landscape in which companies face growing demands regarding data protection, cybersecurity, and AI governance, which requires specialized advice to strengthen their compliance models and technological risk management.
In this context, the New Technologies and AI practice will seek to support organizations in strengthening their capabilities for prevention, detection, and response to cybersecurity incidents, as well as in complying with the obligations imposed by the Cybersecurity Framework Law.
Furthermore, the practice aims to advise companies on the design and implementation of governance models for the responsible use of artificial intelligence, addressing aspects such as transparency, risk management, the traceability of automated decisions, and the adoption of regulatory and ethical standards, with the goal of enabling them to incorporate these technologies safely and reliably.
With extensive experience in these areas, Juan Pablo González has built an outstanding track record advising public and private institutions on data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance.
Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at top-tier organizations. He served as head of legal affairs for the National Cybersecurity Coordination Office of the Undersecretariat of the Interior, where he led legislative initiatives related to cybercrime, cybersecurity, and the digital transformation of the government, and also participated in Chile’s process of aligning with the Budapest Convention and in the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Policy.
Subsequently, he served as a senior manager at Deloitte and NTT DATA, leading projects on regulatory compliance, privacy, and data governance for domestic and international clients. Later, he led the Data, Privacy & Security practice at Assertiva Risk Advisory, and most recently served as director of the Personal Data Protection, Cybersecurity, and New Technologies division at HD Group.
In the academic sphere, he currently directs the Certificate Program in Technology and Regulation at the Universidad del Desarrollo and serves as a guest lecturer at various universities and national and international seminars, contributing to the training of new professionals.
