The Artificial Intelligence Bill advanced to the Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
On Wednesday, May 14, there was a new advance in the processing of the bill that seeks to regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in Chile. On this occasion, the Future, Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved the bill, allowing it to continue its legislative course.
This project establishes a regulatory framework for the operation of AI systems in the country, and its processing now continues in the Finance Committee of the same chamber. If it is approved in that instance, it will be submitted to a vote in the Chamber’s chamber and, if there are no inconveniences or objections, it will then pass to the Second Constitutional Procedure in the Senate.
The development of this project is framed within the growing use of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence, whose implications -both positive and negative- are already evident in different areas of Chilean society.
